Community Sports Volunteer Award - Nominations Open

Do you know a volunteer who has given an oustanding contribution to the sport or your club?  Applications for the Sport NSW - Community Sports Volunteer Awards are now open.  These awards recognise outstanding achievements and contributions made by volunteers across NSW who carry out a variety of roles which give life to community sport. They also conincide with National Volunteer Week.

As only one nomination per category can be submitted, all nominations are to be sent to Andrea Webb, Equestrian NSW - [email protected] by COB by Monday 30 June 2015.  Nominations will then be endorsed and submitted by Equestrian NSW. The nomination period is from 1 April 2014 to 30 June 2015.

Official

Awarded to umpires, referees, technical officials etc at state, association or club level for outstanding achievements and contributions in the nomination period. Conditions of Entry: ƒ Nominee must not receive any remuneration other than reimbursement of expenses or honorarium ƒ Nominee must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident with residency in NSW The following criteria will be taken into account for judging: ƒ Level of competition officiated ƒ Accreditation/training and development ƒ Time involvement ƒ Shows leadership including mentoring/education of other officials ƒ Evidence of fair, safe and inclusive practices.

Young Official

Coach

Awarded to coaches at state, association or club level for outstanding achievements and contributions in the nomination period. Conditions of Entry: ƒ Nominee must not receive any remuneration other than reimbursement of expenses or honorarium ƒ Nominee must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident with residency in NSW The following criteria will be taken into account for judging: ƒ Level of competition coached and success of coached individual/team ƒ Accreditation/training and development ƒ Innovative coaching technique and program ƒ Time involvement ƒ Shows leadership including mentoring/education of other coaches ƒ Promotes a healthy culture providing a fair, safe, healthy and inclusive environment.

Young Coach

Awarded to young coaches at state, association or club level for outstanding achievements and contributions in the nomination period. Conditions of Entry: ƒ Nominee must not receive any remuneration other than reimbursement of expenses or honorarium ƒ Nominee must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident with residency in NSW ƒ The nominee must be 21 years and under as of 30 June 2015 The following criteria will be taken into account for judging: ƒ Level of competition coached and success of coached individual/team ƒ Accreditation/training and development ƒ Innovative coaching technique and program ƒ Time involvement ƒ Shows leadership including mentoring/education of other coaches ƒ Promotes a healthy culture providing a fair, safe, healthy and inclusive environment.

Community Sports Administrator

Awarded to community sport administrators at regional/district or club level for outstanding achievement and contribution in the nomination period (e.g. club/association Secretary, President, Treasurer) Conditions of Entry: ƒ Nominee must not receive any remuneration other than reimbursement of expenses or honorarium ƒ Nominee must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident with residency in NSW The following criteria will be taken into account for judging: ƒ Level of administration ƒ Positive impact on club/organisation e.g. membership, financial viability, new program implemented, major events conducted etc. ƒ Time involvement ƒ Initiatives, teamwork, sustainability and leadership ƒ Mentoring of new administrators and committee members ƒ Promotes a healthy culture providing a fair, safe, healthy and inclusive environment.

The Ministers Sports Volunteer Management Awards - (1) Club/Region/District, (2) State and (3) Event

Nominations will be judged on their volunteer management practices and leadership. These include: ƒ Volunteer management plans and policies ƒ Innovative volunteer recruitment strategies ƒ Volunteer orientation/induction process ƒ Taking a collaborative approach to volunteer training, support and communication strategies ƒ Innovative volunteer retention, recognition and reward strategies ƒ Demonstrated commitment to a fair, safe, healthy and inclusive environment.
